The AIM Training
Institute was established in May 2005, by Dr. G. Roger
Jarjoura, founder of the Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring
(AIM) and Associate Professor at the Indiana University School of
Public and Environmental Affairs. The AIM Training Institute
is dedicated to providing the highest quality training for
professionals and students throughout the country.
The mission of
the AIM Training Institute is to develop the professional knowledge,
skills and abilities of its students by presenting state-of-the-art
training programs, based on best practices, in a positive learning
environment.
Prisoner Reentry
Training
The training
institute offers a Prisoner Reentry Training course that focuses on
preparing professionals to work in the field of prisoner
reentry. There are two tracks to the training
institute: a general track that focuses on prisoner reentry for
adult offenders, and a juvenile track with a specialized focus on
juvenile reentry issues.
The curriculum
represents a balanced coverage of state-of-the-art information on
best practices in reentry programming, a comprehensive assessment of
the critical issues related to reentry, and hands-on instruction in
the skills necessary to effectively serve ex-offenders making the
transition to the community.
The training is an intensive,
immersion-based experience lasting 3 full days for the general track
and 4 full days for the juvenile reentry track.
